The ZERO filter is biodegradable and breaks down into non-toxic microplastic-free byproducts, reducing the waste associated with discarded PPE.
Biodegradation testing on our nonwoven technology was completed according to ASTM D5511 the Standard Test Method for Determining Anaerobic Biodegradation of Plastic Materials Under High-Solids Anaerobic-Digestion Conditions. Testing is ongoing, and we will regularly publish updates with new biodegradation results as they become available.
Biodegradation rates of the ZERO Surgical Respirator nonwoven material elements are measured according to the ASTM D5511-18 standard. Biodegradation testing has been conducted on nonwoven material elements and excludes earloops, nose bridge, nose foam and structural layer. The biodegradation rates may change based on the landfill conditions present.

FAQS
Find answers to commonly asked questions.
What is the difference between P2 respirators and N95 respirators?
P2 respirator masks and N95 respirator masks are very similar in terms of performance and protection, but they differ slightly in terms of standards and certification:
- P2 respirators: Certified under the Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 1716. They are designed to filter out at least 94% of airborne particles down to 0.3 microns in size. FILTRUM P2 face respirators exceed this standard, offering a filtration efficiency of more than 95%, providing the same level of protection as an N95 respirator.
- N95 respirators: Certified under the US NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) standard. They must filter at least 95% of airborne particles of the same size.
Are the FILTRUM P2 respirators lab tested and approved with the TGA?
Yes, all FILTRUM P2 Respirators have undergone independent laboratory testing by VicLab in Victoria, Australia.
Does facial hair affect how well my respirator fits?
Yes, it can. Hair on your face, especially along your jawline and cheeks can prevent the respirator from sealing tightly against your skin. This can create gaps that allow unfiltered air to leak in, reducing the respirator's effectiveness.
What can I do if I have facial hair?
For the best protection, we recommend trimming or shaving any facial hair that comes between your skin and the respirator's edges. Always perform a seal check each time you put on your respirator. If you feel air leaking, it's not fitting correctly. Our FILTRUM P2 Respirators are designed with features like a moldable nose bridge and highly-elastic ear loops, which may help achieve a better fit even with some facial hair.
